Help with suggestions for a title? |
|
A friend who is a gay activist among many other things has agreed to write a monthly article for my blog. Of course, we plan to talk him into doing his own down the line, but for now, this is what he's agreed to do. He sent me the first one and I want to get it up tomorrow...or later today, I guess. I want to have a title for his columns and after there are a couple of them they'll get listed under their own link. He'll write mostly about glbt issues, but also about other things sometimes. So, we're trying to come up with a permanent for his column. Is Queer Corner too corny? Anyone willing to contribute an idea?

4. Is "Queer Corner" too restrictive? That is, since you mentioned |
|
that he intents to, and you agree that he, write more than GLBT issues? How about "Queer (and more) Corner" ?? That is, if your audience fully appreciates that the term "Queer" is no longer derogatory. That being said, how about "GLBT Issues and Beyond" . . . ??

6. How about "The Happy Adversary"? |
|
or Happy Antagonist, or Happy Opponent?
Have a lovely gay friend who lives on Gaylord Street, or as he and I like to call it, Happy Jesus Lane.
Your friend is a gay activist, so... Happy Adversary is the natural name. ;)

7. Thanks so much for all those |
|
I'm leaning toward "Out and About" although just as I was going back to sleep I thought about HomoFiles. The title he suggested included "homo" but I didn't think the rest of it had much of a ring. As to context, in person he's a very funny guy, but I think what he writes will mostly be political. He's an attorney/activist and his life is about gay rights and is work is HIV/AIDS advocacy. He wants to write about whatever he feels like, though. The first is about the NYC ruling on gay marriage. Anyone who doesn't know that "queer" is no longer derogatory is likely to be a person who's offended about at least half of what I write about. It's supposed to be a general blog but tends to lean to anti-Bush, anti-GOP stuff since that's what I've become obessed with in recent years.
Anyway, thanks so much and I'll send him a few of these and let him pick .

"HomoFiles" is actually, well, not bad. "Out and About" is really very good - but sounds like a gay travel column or maybe a gossip column. My suggestion is "Whatever I damn well want to write about!". Yes too wordy and not at all helpfully descriptive.
Still I'm sticking with that as my choice.
Khash.
