Year Of Waiting For Conn. Gay Marriage Ruling
http://365gay.com/Newscon08/05/051608con.htm

(Hartford, Connecticut) One year ago this week the Connecticut Supreme Court heard arguments in a case involving 8 same-sex couples seeking the right to marry.

The court reserved judgment in the case, and for the past 12 months gay and lesbian couples in the state have been waiting for a ruling, having to make do with civil unions that most LGBT advocates say are insufficient.

Unlike California, where the state Supreme Court has a deadline of 90 days to deliver a ruling following oral arguments, there is no similar requirement on the Connecticut.

The Connecticut couples seeking the right to marry are represented by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, the Boston-based legal group that won same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.

1. "civil unions that most LGBT advocates say are insufficient." Which ones say they aren't?
That's what I want to know. How could ANY LGBT organization think that a civil union without ANY federal benefits, is sufficient?

3. As a CT,
As a CT resident, I don't see gay marriage becoming legal in my state any time soon. We have a Republican Governor (who even though she is a Republican, she is fair mostly) will never allow it. She thinks civil unions are just fine and I have heard her go on and on about how civil unions are the best for gay couples in CT.

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to see Connecticut be the 3rd stae in the country to legalize it, I just don't think this will ever pass.
