President Yahya Jammeh is promising to put in place anti-gay laws that are stricter than Iran.

He gave gays and criminals an ultimatum to leave the country.

"Foreigners are cordially welcomed in The Gambia, but not bad elements," he said at a rally outside Banjul, Gambia's capital...

2. Completely abhorrent.
Luckily, Barack Obama supports granting asylum for gay people in Gambia and elsewhere.

"Under an Obama administration, the United States will lead by setting a strong example, which includes making clear that asylum for persecuted people is a bedrock principle of American and international law. Moreover, Obama will exert diplomatic pressure and employ other foreign policy tools to encourage other nations to address human rights abuses and atrocities committed against LGBT men and women."

3. I hope we get a response similar to
the the Gay response in the US to the Gay Marielitos, many who came only with the clothes on their back. Sponsers came foward. There was a large, organized effort. I expect Europe will be more open.

4. beyond South Africa, are any nations in Africa accepting of
open homosexuality?

one of my dreams is to climb the Great Pyramid in Giza and in general to explore the old ruins, but Egypt's laws against homosexuals makes me antsy about traveling there.
