Ted Kennedy: The Lion Roars |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 01:38 AM by LostinRed
I missed a lot of the DNC convention speeches, I had to work late. I just finished watching Sen. Ted Kennedy's speech and I was so glad to hear him say, "Barack Obama will close the book on the old politics of race, gender, and group against group, and straight against gay." When gay issues are used as a wedge issue it makes me feel so proud there are voices like Kennedy's that are willing to speak out for us. I hope he recovers we need advocates like him. I encourage everyone to youtube it.

2. Teddy had the second best speech of the night. |
|
Obviously Michelle takes the gold medal tonight, but Teddy rocked a lot harder than I thought he would capable of, given his recent health situation. All things considered, he's looking surprisingly healthy.

4. Ted's always spoken for the other |
|
I was very proud of him last night. I hope Obama takes up that baton and does help end the straight against gay stuff. I liked that Ted put it that way 'straight against gay' as that is the fact of it.

5. My grandmother didn't like him, but I always have. And I like him even more now as I've gotten older |
|
He's one of the few Democrats that I feel have tons of integrity.

6. I hope the gay press takes note of this moment in Sen. Kennedy's speech |
|
and gives this man the tribute he deserves for putting a statement out there in public, on a podium, at the DNC. It's 2008, and sometimes I think that we don't hardly make any strides at all. Yet, within his speech he includes this statement of unity without any preface or fanfare. Please let this be an example for others.

7. If Kennedy says that Obama will profit gay rights then I don't see how anyone can say otherwise. |
