19 yo gay teen dismembered in NYC and no press
other than Gay City News.

<snip>

Rashawn Brazell, a 19-year-old gay Brooklyn man,
disappeared on February 14 and police later discovered
his severed body parts in two Brooklyn locations. As
of yet, police have no definite suspect.

The murder investigation in the case of Rashawn
Brazell, a 19-year-old Brooklyn gay man, whose severed
limbs and torso were discovered at two locations in
the borough over the last two weeks, is ongoing,
according to a police official who said that
investigators are working around the clock to
apprehend a suspect in a case so ghastly, some young
gay men have expressed fear for their safety.

3. How horrible!
When you consider that famous Six Degrees of Separation, it's really frightening. Poor thing. :( This is EXACTLY why I never bring strange people home with me, nor do I go off with them alone.

4. NY Daily News
An aspiring designer whose hacked off limbs were found in a Brooklyn subway station was last seen leaving home Monday to file his taxes and look for work, his mother said Friday.

Friends, however, say Rashawn Brazell, 19, was supposed to meet a man for a tryst.

7. Yeah, I've seen it in a couple of places now in MSM
but nothing prominent. I really think that if this was a straight white woman it would be national news though. It really bothers me.
Plus, it seems that the killer might still be at large.

9. I hate to say this
I read different gay news, and I didn't even see this and it pains me to say this as a white person, but perhaps it is not all over the news because he is an African-American. It is the same for the 15yo lesbian murdered in NJ by a 30yo man because she was lesbian! Why was that not all over the news? Most gay murders will not see the light of MSM, and they really won't if they are also a minority!! When people say racism doesn't exist or is much better than it used to be, I swear I want to punch them in their smug face!

This is a sad, sad story! But, I am still glad you let the rest of us know!

10. indeed -- you are correct.
but i also find the murders of gay folk largely ignored period.

it was during the mathew shephard tragedy that i became reaquainted with the killings of gay folk around the country -- because i was actively looking for them.

it struck me then -- as this does now -- our murders always seem to make the back page.

some things never change.

11. It was in the local TV news the day they found the limbs in the subway
They weren't reporting at the time that he was gay or on his way to meet someone - and a week later they found a torso and believed it was the same person, and then they gave further info, interviewed his brother, and said he had met someone on line.
