How so? 3 anti-marriage amendments passed. Gays were once again relegated to 2nd class citizenship.
What exactly did we "win"?

9. in NY, democrats and progressives won big, not to mention the national wins |
|
there's people literally partying in the streets even as I type this, and as someone born during the Reagan-era, these wins mean the first time I really know hope. I can't help but laugh at the guys on Fox News trying not to cry. make no mistake, we, as a nation, won big tonight. we will see a progressive agenda that moves us forward, although there are obviously way too many parts of the county that will dig their heels in the entire time.
don't let our losses, as deep as they cut, keep you from celebrating tonight.

Which includes our President and Vice President saying they're against gay marriage. Elections proving that gays are still not equal.
Sorry, I find little comfort and little to celebrate.
While I am glad that Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin lost, I don't celebrate further erosions of my life.

One thing I look forward to is finally seeing the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". This wouldn't have been possible if McCain had won.

I don't believe that they'll have that high on their agenda.
And you'll have to forgive me if I fall into the camp of "believe it when I see it".

If same-sex marriage was the only issue you cared about, well then I can understand your attitude.
Same-sex marriage is important to me, but it's hardly the only issue I care about.

Because it's one of the most important things to me it's "the only issue I care about"
Look around.
Gays lost 4 important votes tonight.
We were relegated to second class citizenship more now than ever before.
We lost the right to marry whom we choose. In Arkansas we lost the right to be able to adopt children.
And now we have a president who, though better than the alternatives, has gone on record as saying he opposes gay marriage.
The ONLY issue? Might want to check again.

You have no idea who I am. You have no idea why this is important to me. You don't even know me. So don't try to analyze anything.

Thankfully Obama won.
Now let's hope California pulls through for us GLBT's after our losses in other states.

This is insanity. Every Democrat knows the right answer regarding gay people and their rights.
Obama's victory rings hollow if you ask me.

with you entirely. GLBT Americans have lost big in Arizona and Florida. It's a hollow victory indeed if we are constantly deprived of our rights....rights that belong to us as AMERICANS! The way it looks to me, America is not for LGBT people. There's a reason I use the Canadian flag as my avatar.
