The now-last-ditch defense of a horrible "public option" that really does nothing positive |
|
reminds me of the French and their building (and "defending") the Maginot Line in WWII. A stupid approach to defending their country, executed badly, resulting in Germany conquering France with ease. We have an administration taking a weak position (no single-payer, but that public option is held out as being able to do the job). Then, they perform very weakly in defending even that flawed position. The only difference is that the Dems will claim a victory when a worse-than-nothing reform bill finally lands on Obama's desk. At least the French people were not stupid enough to think that their line of obsolete fortifications actually prevented the Nazis from overrunning the country. How many here will stand and cheer when we "win" with the piss-poor reform being fed us?

1. Suppose you're self-employed at some point. |
|
(if you're not already)
Would you rather be forced to buy private insurance, or have the choice of a public option?

2. Affordable insurance, no denial of insurance and no upped |

premiums for existing conditions is not nothing. Why do we keep pretending it is? I too want single payer but I will not pretend that the reforms mentioned are of no value.

6. Right. Let's see what affordable means when this is done. And see how much your co-pays rise |

to keep the Insurance Corps profits high enough. And see how all the procedures and drugs are magically approved by the "improved" private, for-profit insurers. ':sarcasm:' They will simply continue doing BUSINESS just like they do now, only with more money because people will be forced to buy insurance from those thieves and murderers.

then no cost controls will drive up premiums and drive down subsidies, a government that can't regulate any business that is rich enough to bribe politicians will self neuter in the face of these new regulations and as the baby boomers rapidly get older that special clause that says the ins co's can up premiums by as much as 5x on older folks will kick in with a vengeance.
I hope folks enjoy the few minute victory lap before all hell breaks loose.
