My arm was sore for about 12 hours after the seasonal flu vaccination. Should I report that to VAERS?

1. Get it in your butt the next time
It's a bigger muscle and doesn't get sore.

The deltoid is a small muscle that gets a real workout and we tend to notice it a lot more when it hurts.

3. I slept through most of it.
I didn't get it till about 0100 and slept till 1130. I noticed it when I first got up and then forgot about it. I'll let you know how H1N1 compares.

2. Sounds like a serious adverse reaction to me.
Any moment now, you can expect to drop dead or grow an extra arm or something.

4. When I got my seasonal flu
shot, I had no soreness. Later, I got a tetanus shot and my arm was sore for days.

5. Tetanus is bad. Typhoid and Yellow Fever are much worse though.
It could have been the shaky 65 year old doctor that caused the soreness this time.

6. Where are you getting the H1N1?
I didn't realize it was widely available yet?

Sorry about the sore arm. I was nearly paralyzed in my right arm for days after my tetanus shot about 20 years ago. Horrible pain as well. Much worse pain than the injury that brought me to the ER in the first place. ;)

14. Check vit D?

http://www.naturalnews.com/027231_Vitamin_D_immune_system_vaccines.html

What this study reveals is that without sufficient levels of vitamin D circulating in your blood, you're a ripe, juicy target for influenza (H1N1 or otherwise). If you lack vitamin D, your immune system can't "activate" to do its job. That's why people who are deficient in vitamin D so frequently get winter colds.

But people who are high in vitamin D have the nutritional power to activate their immune system so that it can respond to invading pathogens. Crucially, vitamin D also manages to balance immune response and prevent inflammation -- the leading cause of death in the 1918 influenza pandemic.

So not only does vitamin D protect you from the initial infection; it also prevents your body from over-reacting and killing you with inflammation (which typically gets expressed as bacterial pneumonia, an infection of the lungs).

16. vitamin D is very important!
I take 2000 IU's - 4000 IU's daily. It has been found to be safe in higher doses.
