27 yr old Canadian dead after contracting anti-viral resistant H1N1
FYI

Michael Thomas Neill of Quispamsis died at the Saint John Regional Hospital (New Brunswick) on Monday.

Drug-resistant cases of H1N1 are rare and have only occurred several dozen times across the world, Van Buynder said.

The 27 yr old had a history of asthma and pneumonia but did not get the H1N1 vaccine, his parents say.

Carolyn Neill said her only son had a history of asthma and pneumonia and had been complaining of breathing troubles before he was diagnosed with the H1N1 influenza virus in early December.

"He said it was so bad he wanted to rip his chest open," Neill said of her son's condition. "We rushed him right in and they put him on oxygen."

Neill spent the next three and a half weeks at her son's bedside.

"They put him on a ventilator and under sedation," she said. "They wanted him to be comfortable."

When doctors brought her son out of sedation he struggled to breathe until he eventually stopped, Neill said.

Lol

Really, it's not as bad as the media says it is, but we still need to take precaution because healthy people really are dying from it. Not only that but someone just had drug resistant TB here.

3. I was being sarcastic.
I understand the severity, I don't like it when people say it doesn't matter because the problem with it is that it's lethal to a select few people and it's difficult to know who is vulnerable and who is not.

10. There was a poster here a month or so ago...
who advocated really hot hot-tubbing as a cure for H1N1. Really, really hot, like 116F hot. Which is far more likely to kill you than the flu.

Needless to say, that poster is no longer with us (at least virtually, I have no reason to believe he's not still actually alive)
