2010 was expected to be a peak year for Pertussis in California ~ CTV - Toronto
Edited on Sun Sep-19-10 02:41 PM by mzmolly
...whooping cough is a cyclical illness that peaks in infections every five years or so, and 2010 is expected to be a peak year – at least in California."

...

Often, it's not a matter of vaccine refusal; it's a matter of whether our immunity has worn off.

And adults with worn-off immunity can act as "reservoirs" of disease. They can become infected and not know it, and while it may not cause dangerous illness in them, if they transmit it to an infant, it can be fatal.

While it's true that babies are routinely vaccinated against pertussis, they don't have full immunity until at least six months old, because they need three vaccinations.
(All the babies who have died in the California outbreak were under two months of age.)

Even in adults, pertussis is not a picnic. While influenza is a much bigger killer, whooping cough can be nasty, leading to lots of absenteeism at work

1. That link cause Norton 360 to block a threat. It was probably just
a tracking cookie, but I though people should know. I'd advise people without strong security software to not click your link.

12. Canadian television stations are now considered "anti-vaccine"?
Edited on Sun Sep-19-10 10:43 PM by mzmolly
My how that list is growing. Just like the people who show up at about the same time, to post in the health forum.

14. Poor word choice on my part.
Change "anti-vax links" to "links provided by anti-vaxers."

3. It could be attached to an ad or something else on that site:
Here's the Norton 360 report that opened as soon as the site opened:

4. I'm not seeing any ads. It's a Toronto news station called CTV.
http://www.ctv.ca/ I can't help but wonder if your PC is the issue vs. the website?

5. There are, indeed, ads on that site. Look again. It's not coming
from my PC. You can see that from the IP address of the source. I'm just trying to warn people about the link and what happened. I'm not attacking you.

6. I realize that, but I'm getting a toronto tv station website sans ads. Though I have an ad blocker
installed.

7. There are ads there. One is for ING bank, and there are others
as well. I'm just telling you what happened. I'm done doing that. What people do with that information is up to them.

But I thank you for sharing your concern about the Canadian news station website.

I'm out for now. :hi:

I really don't think the website is causing your particular issue. Thanks again for looking out for everyone, however.

10. Trust me, my computer is heavily protected. I have no adware, but
something tried to be downloaded from that site, probably connected to one of the ads. Doesn't matter, though...it did nothing to my computer.

about any potential downloads. Hmmm
