Now it is said that the laws of physics dictate how much energy is contained in a gallon of gas and a 200/mpg non-hybrid is impossible to achieve in any vehicle safe enough to take out on the nation's roads, despite the press release back in 1932 for the Charles Nelson Pogue fuel vaporizers/vapor fuel system that was tested by Ford Motor Company and Winnepeg Motor Company of Canada, US Patent #2,026,798 (and others). The raw gasoline was first heated, then introduced into the engine in a warm gaseous form (sophisticated absorptive surfaces, lines and tanks were required).

I'm also an ASE certified Master with 20 years experience and as I've told people for at least two decades "If I had a nickle for everyone of these stories I've heard, I'd be retired for a long time."

Don't you think that if the manufacturers could get 300 mpg cars out there they would? It's certainly possible to build a car with that mileage, but it will probably have a tough time time doing other things we like our cars to do; like start on a cold morning or run for several thousand miles with no maintenance. It's all a compromise.

What's a carburetor? Didn't they used to put those on cars about
a million years ago BFI (Before Fuel Injection)?

Seriously, to answer your question, gasoline *IS* vaporized before it
is burned in the engine. In carburetors, it was vaporized on its way
through the intake manifold (yes, cooling the inlet gas a teeny tiny
smidgen). In fuel injected engines, most have the injectors mounted
so as to spray on the intake valves and the intake valves are quite
hot, so the gasoline rapidly flashes into vapor *AND* performs the
useful service of removing a little waste heat from the valves.

The "fuel vaprizer" thing is bullshit, pure and simple.

Sadi Carnot quite a while ago described the ultimate limits on
heat engine efficiency, and no power in the universe is going to
affect those limits.
