The latest budget will give NSF a cut of 1.9%, or about $230 million.
Way to go Bush...shoot the country in the foot much?
Anyway, the NSF has been underfunded for years, and in 2001 BushCo pledged to double its funding by 2007, a pledge which has clearly been forgotten. There is 0 doubt in my mind that this is retribution for the support the scientific community gave to Kerry.

Every scientist I know (including myself) can't stand Bush and the group "Scientists and Engineers for Change" was very active during the campaign against him. Bush's crowd does not even recognize "the enlightenment", let alone the value of modern science.
