Massive Wave Damages, Diverts Cruise Ship
Massive Wave Damages, Diverts Cruise Ship

"CHARLESTON, S.C. - A seven-story wave damaged a cruise ship returning from the Bahamas over the weekend, smashing windows, flooding more than 60 cabins and injuring four passengers. "

"The ship was hit by a freak wave that caused two windows to break in two different cabins," Norwegian Cruise Line said in a statement. It said 62 cabins flooded and four passengers had cuts and bruises. The wave reached as high as deck 10 on the ship, company spokeswoman Susan Robison said Sunday"

I wonder what caused that?

1. Happens all the time
Radisson Seven Sea Voyager on it's World Cruise hit almost as bad of waves and 70+ winds off Australia. No cabins hurt but one Baby Grand is toast.

2. Google Rogue Waves
I never saw one, but they have been reported by seafarers forever.

3. Where did this weather come from? I don't see it.
Check out the this site. If you click on the West Atlantic Ocean, it takes you to a page that you can run a loop of WV,IR, etc., Satellite views.

This sounds a bit like the "Bermuda Triangle" finally meeting it's match in such a huge ship. :tinfoilhat:
