Jack Horkheimer - "Star Hustler" - dead at 72
Jack Horkheimer, PBS 'Star Hustler' died Aug 20. There are tributes to him at Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy blog and at the Sky and Telescope site. Cause of death is not known, however, Jack had been battling various respiratory problems.

His last recorded 'Star Hustler' segment, featuring the summer triangle, will air the first week of Sept.

Jack, you'll be missed.

2. What a career he had!
He had literally been doing public science education since longer than I've been alive! He started in 1965, I was born a year later. Incredible. Back in the '80s I would always tune into my local PBS affiliate at the end of its broadcast day when they played Star Hustler just before God Bless America and static.

6. I think the music was Tomita's interpretation of Debussy
Unless he changed it recently - it's been a long time since I've seen Jack, but I do remember him.

Rest in peace, Jack. You will be missed.

7. Oh that bums me out. And comparatively young, too!
He was always so good at conveying--and inspiring--such great enthusiasm for astronomy and space.

Best wishes to his family and his (many, many) friends.

9. Oh, I haven't seen him in years but I had thought of him recently as my
boys are getting into astronomy.
