Update: Vegan Uncle's visit officially over
First I would like to say, Thank you to all that replied to my thread asking about Vegan food and ideology. It was a big help! Thank you.

Second, for those of you who asked me about how the visit went I thought I'd fill you guys in.

My uncle flew in from Philly last Tuesday. He had asked if he could stay with me as opposed to my Mother ( His sister ) because they really have no clue on his new found way of life. ( He turned 100% vegan just a few years ago )

Anyway.... our first order of business was a wheat grass soy smoothie from a local place here in Austin, followed by a nice hike down to Zilker park.

That evening we took him to a local veggie restaurant where I actually tried wheat roast for the first time! It was pretty good actually! In the form of fajitas, with onions and bell peppers. Pretty good!

The next day, and as nervous as I had been about what to cook, we all went to a local co-op for food shopping. There I learned the difference between Vegan/Vegetarian types of food. We left with a bounty full of organic fruits and veggies, several types of beans and some risotto.

We cooked a bean type soup with veggies in it that night that was sooooooooooo good. Even my husband remarked how he didn't "feel so heavy" after eating.

The whole time he was here, I felt like I was learning something new everyday with him. He's not much different and didn't try to push his lifestyle on me. I made a choice that I wanted to learn more about it.

Anyway, it was a good trip. He left this morning. Just thought I'd fill you guys in! I thank you for time!

1. Glad we could help
Although, I don't know how much help I personally gave. :)

There's a wealth of knowledge in this forum. DU has been so helpful with my diet, so just feel free to ask if you need anything else.

2. I'm glad you both had an enjoyable visit
Your uncle is looking after his health and bringing kindness to the environment, animals and his fellow humans too.

It makes it so much easier when friends and family are welcoming. Good on you both.
