<raises glass>
Today, March 30th was a fine day (thus far) in GD. Throughout the day, at least 3 individual threads were discussed in regards to the barbaric seal hunt taking place right now. I started one. The other two came (I think) from outrage.
DU is made up of lots of great folks. So many open minds, justice seekers, rights protectors, activists. Good combinations.
Today, I saw minds open to the plight of these animals. I saw folks enlighten themselves to the cruelty on the ice floes, signing petitions, speaking out. Sure, antagonists will always surface like a bad home porno movie of a B actress, but today, even they were seen for what they were.
So, a toast to the veg group regs (and some new names I hadn't seen) for keeping the topic kicked, the facts coming, and the naysayers on the receiving end of a well-deserved smackdown.
As it is with everything else we libruls stand for, education is key. I hope that the next hunt season will be a bye season, in that the outrage will simply be too much.
Thanks, all, my kudos to you!!
For the seals, flvegan

I participate in another very active general political forum and there has been some excellent education going on there, too. It's a good feeling to know that SOME progress is being made in the face of so much horror.
Thanks, flvegan!
Cheers!

2. "First one today" as my Dad always says.... |
|
Thanks, flvegan. It has indeed been an interesting and informative couple of days. I, too, hope that next season's "hunt" will be nil and we can put this barbary behind us.

3. Despite how pissed off I was getting sometimes... |
|
I found myself thinking, "Wow. There are at least four active threads in GD regarding animal welfare/rights."
That was quite an accomplishment. There were the usual BS arguments, but no one let up. Hopefully, a few people learned something.

6. I thank you guys for showing me the horrors of factory farming |
|
Someone in one of the threads posted a link to a site about factory farming that has a couple of videos, one about veal, and the other about factory farming in general. I learned alot from those films and the film on veal nearly brought me to tears. Although I'm trying to go vegetarian, even if I fail I vow to never again purchase meat unless it was raised and slaughtered in a humane fashion. I also now think of PETA quite differently than I used to. Thank you.
Peace, Jared
