Vegetarian Batman
I saw Batman Begins last night and it was awesome! Go vegetarian Batman! Just another "weak" vegetarian I guess.

1. Awesome!
Was batman actually a veggie, or is the actor? Sorry I'm totally clueless.

OMG, I just learned today that Christopher Nolan directed the movie! Memento is one of my all time favorites; it'll be interesting to see how he deals with a Hollywood extravaganza.

5. Wow! I'm reading Charlotte's Web to my 3 year old right now
and I'm having to tone it down a little, as it's a bedtime story.

He's already a vegetarian, but I like to reinforce the notion that pigs are people too, but not so badly that it gives him nightmares.

2. Christian Bale is in the lead in the Sexiest Vegetarian poll.
According to one source:

<snip>

"Celebrities are shunning meat faster than you can say 'veggie burger'", says PETA Asia-Pacific Director Jason Baker. "After all, what's sexier than someone who's both passionate and compassionate?"

In the overall poll, current American Idol winner Carrie Underwood is in the lead over Avril Lavigne and Gwyneth Paltrow, while for the men, Batman Begins star Christian Bale is leading over Samuel L. Jackson and Coldplay's Chris Martin.

Results of PETA's "Sexiest Vegetarian Alive" poll will be revealed at the start of July. A complete list of the vegetarian celebrities who are in the running is available online at GoVeg.com.

According to another, he's behind Chris Martin of Coldplay. :(

Underwood is an ‘Idol’ to animals, too

Looks like Carrie Underwood may win more than the "American Idol" crown. The crooner is the lead contender in a poll for the world’s hottest woman who doesn’t eat meat.

Every year, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals conducts an online vote for World’s Sexiest Vegetarian, and this year, the 22-year-old Oklahoman is in the lead, beating out including Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Avril Lavigne.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who is married to Paltrow, is the frontrunner among sexiest veggie guys. His closest competitors are “Batman” star Christian Bale, Morrissey, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tobey Maguire. The online poll — at peta.org — continues throughout June and the winners will be announced in July.

“Carrie is known to rescue stray animals and wore a ‘V is for Vegetarian’ T-shirt on the show last month, sending her popularity soaring among animal lovers everywhere,” reports a PETA insider. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Carrie wins. Her fans are ravenous!”

4. As is Spiderman...and Batgirl!
Tobey Maguire (Spidey) is also a veg, and Alicia Silverstone (Batgirl) is vegan. Whole bunch of "weak" vegetarians.

6. Speaking of veggie stars.
Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank both won Oscars for Million Dollar Baby this year. That would have been a great story, but I didn't see it anywhere.

They weren't in the Sexiest Vegetarians Poll, either.

Numerous entertainment magazines and tv shows had a story about how on Oscar night Hilary and Chad Lowe went out for a burger afterwards. Pictures of Hilary "devouring" a burger, everywhere! Only one pointed out it was a veggie burger.

10. From a 2001 article on Christian Bale.
"My family has always been very interested in animal care and animal rights," he says. "All my pets are from rescue homes, so I tend to be aware of these issues." Christian has been a vegetarian, too, since the age of six, when his sister read him the children's story Charlotte's Web, and he made the connection between animals in the farmyard and meat on the table. Currently he's raising funds to look after an orphaned baby gorilla in Rwanda, and promoting the Happy Child Mission, a school for street children in Brazil. He is also working with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to bring an end to fox-hunting in Britain.

http://www.christianbale.net/articles/2001/sundayexpress2001.htm

Christian's father, David Bale, married Gloria Steinem in 2000. He died of brain lymphoma three years later.

Umm...no, I don't think it was Gloria that did him in.
