So I'll be in court tomorrow
State Attorney wants everyone involved in a particular cruelty case to be available. So there I'll be. Nice of them to fill me in tonight...12 hours before zero hour.

Short story...

Crazy Belle (CB) has a dog. We'll call him "Dog" to protect his identity. She also has a scumbag assclown pile of feces (shithead) that is referred to as her "boyfriend" from time to time.

So, CB and shithead are fighting. CB doesn't want to fight anymore, goes into bedroom. Dog is sleeping on bed with CB. Shithead, on house arrest for grand theft, enters room, gets angry, throws dog through furniture. Dog, now bleeding to death, gets taken to emergency clinic by CB. CB has no money to fix dog, vets call cops. Vets call my rescue, we seize Dog, pay for surgery, take Dog in. Shithead is charged with felony animal cruelty (very, very cool officers of the law on this one).

Dog is wonderful. We change bandages (almost severed his hind leg) few times a day. He's wagging and happy. Lotsa rehab. Happy doggie, happy doggie. A year later, we adopt him out.

Trial comes around (now). Shithead has this story that Dog growled at him, and he was defending himself. Shithead is lying, and we intend to prove that. CB will be testifying against him, allegedly (she has a new fella in her life, now).

Opening arguments start at 8am. If he walks, flvegan is going to take it like a man, sure that the justice system works and that shithead is indeed innocent. If something bad should happen to shithead, it won't be because of me, as you read here that I'll hold no ill-will towards him. No sir. No sirree.

1. Oh my god, what an awful story!
That poor dog. Was she a pit?
You are so great...we would all be there to support you if we could. We'll be there in spirit, anyway ;)
I can't believe that story. At least there was a happy ending for the puppy. I hope this guy gets what he deserves. What sort of penalty is he facing??

3. Bully breed...bulldog/staffordshire mix.
He's facing a year in jail on the animal cruelty. However, having been on house arrest, he's facing having to go back and serve the remainder of that in jail too, for violating (which we'll push for). Potentially, he could get a total of 3 years in the big house (granted, with early release, etc, he'll serve a year and some change).

Thanks for the well-wishes. Cross your fingers, toes, eyes, etc...

4. I hope he gets the max.
I really, really do. And I hope you let him have it. I don't doubt that you will.

7. Well, if he's found guilty, the real fun begins.
The judge has already received a hundred letters in support based on our campaign against the defendant. We have many folks ready, pen/keyboard in hand, to demand the maximum sentence should they set the sentencing hearing for a later date.

Should I not be satisfied with the outcome (don't I sound like a big tough guy, now), we're going after him SHAC style. His landlord has already been contacted. Then, we're going to his (the landlord's) mortgage company and insurance company. We're going to the homeowners' association and we'll be posting flyers in the neighborhood.

However, as a violent offender, if he'll admit his wrongdoings and undertake some anger management training and work through his issues, we'll call it off.

10. Promise. Thank you.
I believe strongly in karma. If it's not to be tomorrow, he'll get his, one way or another. Not easy to live with on a personal level (we all want that "personal taste" of vindication, I think).

We got the dog away, now it's up to the system to put him away. At the end of the day, the dog is now safe (and very happy). And maybe, just maybe, since he must've been pissing his pants for the last several months, what with this not "just going away" he realizes a simple mantra:

Don't fuck with the animals.

And yes, I have it on a t-shirt.

5. So....you're saying DON'T call him shithead if/when I'm on the stand?
Well, there goes my testimony.

Kidding. I've been well schooled by our extremely litigious attorney, and my positive, non-personal, non-adversarial testimony, if given, will be viewed by the jurors as informative, factual and non-biased.

8. Probably over the same day.
There are 5 or 6 witnesses that will definitely be called. There are 4 or 5 that can testify if needed as to the dog's demeanor, etc (to set pattern, deny suggestion).

I'll be DU'ing results by dusk.

12. Oh, wow.
I'm so glad CB has wised up and not only gotten herself out of a bad human relationship, but also is willing to testify against this piece of crap that was once her boyfriend. And, at least she took Dog to the vet when injured.

Good luck, flvegan. Let us know how it goes as soon as you can ok? I'll be thinking of you all day tomorrow and sending my best wishes, good vibes, and lots of hugs!

14. Good luck.
Let us know how it goes.

Even a year seems light to me. Someone who can throw a dog through furniture is obviously unstable enough to do it to a person someday.
