Do these dogs ever come back? Or is it an indefinite tour, like in Nam?
You would think it would have protective gear.

3. Animals don't matter as much.
After all, they can't torture effectively, or kill a civilian properly.

I feel bad for the animals which are sacrificed to fight a man-made war.

4. I bet the soldier wishes his companion
had body armor. Something to protect him.

5. But he doesn't pay taxes!
That's an excuse I've heard anyway for why animals don't deserve rights. They don't pay taxes. :eyes:

6. Some of our largest corporations don't pay taxes either
& yet they have more rights than we do.

What a lame excuse! People will say anything to hang onto their belief that humans are the pinnacle of creation.

I have read tragic accounts of dogs during war -- the saddest one from someone on DU who's grandfather told him about some dogs from WWII. It was simply heartbreaking.

7. Good point.
It also irks me that non-living entities can be granted "human" rights, while living breathing animals can't.

8. True.. I think we should spring for bulletproof vests...
That is one wartime expense that I wouldn't argue about.
