Puppy Mill Legislation Campaign - DDAL
(cross-posted in DU Activists forum)

Congress Introduces Bill to End Puppy Mill Abuse
May 26, 2005 -- Today the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives introduced a bill to regulate large, commercial pet breeding operations that sell directly to the public. This bill, entitled the Pet Animal Welfare Statute (S. 1139/H.R. 2669) will close a loophole that exempts the sale of puppies over the Internet and through newspaper ads.

Young puppies are often transported across state lines to unsuspecting consumers who are unable to see the conditions the animal was bred in.

“This bill is long overdue and truly welcomed by the humane community,” said Sara Amundson of DDAL. "This is a significant first step in seeking parity between the federal Animal Welfare Act’s requirements for large, commercial breeders selling to pet stores and to the public."
Ask your Members of Congress to support S. 1139/H.R. 2669.

3. I dropped a little education on 'em.

The NAIA...the world's biggest joke. Their Board of Directors is a bunch of furriers, ex-animal entertainers, rodeo advocates, meat wranglers...disgusting. It's like believing ConsumerFreedom about PETA.

4. You guys are great !
Very good points were made. Our breeder friend did provide links to NAIA and their "troops" ! I dropped several "educational" links for her to digest.

And NO, I didn't see a hint in your posts that you/we considered her a "bad person" for "making a living from legitimate breeding". Geesh, NAIA brainwashing is working! I'm now waiting for her definition of "responsible" breeding ! ::tapping foot::

6. YES I did......
...spooky...LOL. I think you're quicker on your feet than I am :)

I just hope the poor thing didn't think we were ganging up on her, but "legitmate breeder" is such a red flag for NAIA bullsh*t !!!!!
