Looking for vegetarian cookbooks.... |
|
Indian recipes are a preference (my dad went through a vegetarian Buddhist phase, so I'm used to curries, etc.).
Suggestions are welcome.

1. Classic Indian Vegetarian and Grain Cooking by Julie Sahni |
|
My favorite veg Indian cookbook.
If you like South Indian food - Dakshin: Vegetarian Cuisine from South India by Chandra Padmanabhan is great, and beautiful too.
and Madhur Jaffrey's World-of-the-East Vegetarian Cooking has lot's of Indian and other Asian recipes - I've been using this one a lot lately.

The Greatest Ever Vegetarian Cookbook, by Nicola Graimes. I found it on a clearance rack at Borders, I have no idea where to find it now, but if you see it, it's awesome.

3. Vegetarian Epicure and Moosewood |
|
Vegetarian Epicure has at least two volumes; Moosewood has maybe four. Neither specializes in Indian recipes, but both have a range that includes curries and I think Moosewood has one that's international in theme.
My Dad served in India during WWII (as a bread baker!) and he introduced us to curries, too. (Lentils and chickpeas especially -- NY Times cookbook has a simple "Indian chickpea" recipe and also one for curried eggs if you eat them.)
