How many Republicans are vegetarians?
I know those two terms appear to be oxymorons, but, I have a Repub relative who is a vegetarian. Interestingly, she belongs to a Buddhist sect. This person and her husband, who holds the same political and philosophical orientations, are wealthy and, I believe, think the Repubs represent their best interests. I'm just wondering how many of these folks are out there and if they really want the neocons and Christian rightwingnuts to take over the country (whoops, they already have :().

1. I'd say half to one third
of vegetarians are repukes, most of the vegetarians I know are repukes. WHY  because they are animal lovers. Some of the people you would expect to be vegetarians like people here (in DU) and veternarians (I have never known a single vet to be veg) are not.

When I was active in the animal rights movement I was really surprised to find that more of the people in it were repukes. I later realized that they preferred animals to people so it all made sense. What doesn't make sense is that the repuke agenda hates everyone (except their rich corporate greedy friends) and their hatred of the environment hurts animals. Repukes never connect the dots and see at the big picture. :-(

2. I wonder how many of them oppose animal testing and wearing furs.
From what you said my guess is that many do. That's probably why we've seen real progress in stopping these horrors. Go figure!
:wtf:

3. Yes, the ones I knew
did, they didn't wear fur and they were more against animal testing than most liberals are. One thing is that they have a distrust of science and they don't like people so that fits their philosophy. The strange thing is their disregard for the environment and shrugging off chimp's abuse of animals and Frists cutting up cats.

4. I think they reconcile these discrepancies, the same way
they go ballistic over a woman's right to choose but support the death penalty!

5. "Repukes never connect the dots and see at the big picture."
I think that statement explains a lot of confusing Repub behavior.
