Vegetarianism = Gay?
The AFA (right-wing nuts) have news for us: the children's movie Shark Tale, will indoctrinate our children into homosexuality.

Because, you see, the shark isn't a blood thirsty killer, and he may display various effeminate traits like . . . vegetarianism (gasp!). Due to his sensitivity, it's obvious that he's gay, and because he doesn't die horribly, that means that DreamWorks is subtly indicating that homosexuality is okay.

And the people at the AFA have news for you: homosexuality is a sin. A horrible, horrible sin.

So, if you don't want your children to be raging queer homosexuals, the AFA recommends against taking them to see Shark Tale.

2. yup.
this same angle was used in a tv commercial by a hotdog company (ballpark i think?) in which the guy who cooked tofu burgers was a sissy and girly and not a real man (i.e., gay. i don't remember the exact wording but the commercial didn't run for very long because it was very obvious.)

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

This would be an example of number two (trying to associate vegetarians with "girly men"), but in most cases I'd say we're already to number three.

4. Indeed
Agribusiness contributions are 85%-100% Republican.
Hence the "girly-man" aspect of their disinformation.
The last thing these Republican companies want is for people to adopt a vegetarian diet.
They'll do whatever it takes to discredit vegetarians and protect their profits.

9. That isn't exactly what the article says....
although I agree that vegetarian males are often portrayed that way, the article linked is not really about vegetarianism.

They are saying that because sharks are not vegetarians, and this particular shark had to "come out of the closet" as being something different, that THAT is a subtle way of telling children that being different (e.g. homosexual) is OK.

They aren't saying vegetarian = gay.

But I agree with the responses re: the hot dog commercial. Nothing irritates me more than watching people become media suckers.
