Cheese pate with chutney
I tried this new recipe yesterday and took it to our Democratic Club fundraiser. It was the first appetizer to disappear from the buffet! :-) I usually make my own chutney, but I bought a jar of Ashoka brand Mango, Ginger, Apple and Nut chutney this time.

Try this the next time you entertain:

8 oz. pkg cream cheese, softened
4 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
3 T. sherry
2-3 tsp. curry
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chutney
2 scallions, finely chopped

Mix together the cream cheese and cheddar. Add the sherry, curry powder and salt and mix. Spread on a nice serving platter and chill until firm. Right before serving, spread the chutney over the top and garnish with the chopped scallions.

Makes 2 cups

I served this with those thin sesame crackers from Trader Joe's.

3. I was hesitant to make it because some folks might not like curry
but I do :-). So I figured the worst that could happen is I would have leftovers.

5. reminds me of a Tennessee Cheese Log
As I recall, that was cream cheese, some A-1 sauce, chopped walnuts and finely minced garlic, rolled into a log and then rolled in chili powder. Sounds weird, tastes yummy.

6. That sounds good too
I'm going to try it. Football season is coming up and we have the NFL ticket and always have friends over for the game every week. I need some new ideas for munchies. Thanks for the recipe.
