Our dishwasher is in!

It got installed on Saturday and I'm tickled with it. It's the Bosch model "SHE66C0xUC".

I had been debating between a Kenmore and this one and I'm delighted with the choice. Either way, I'm sure I would have been happy.

It's whisper quiet and cleans very well. The beep at the end isn't loud but I'm going to adjust it or turn it off. Since I've never had or even used a d/w ever, I can't compare it to personal experience with other machines. But I pan fried some salmon on Saturday and had lots of stuck-on pieces. I wiped out the big, stainless fry pan of oil and pieces of crispiness. But I left a bunch stuck in there and it cleaned that fry pan beautifully. I used the pot scrubber selection for that wash.

(Hubby just walked past to ask me if the machine was running since he couldn't hear it. Hee-hee.)

So far, I've used the Automatic Wash and Pot Scrubber modes. Tonight it's just the Regular Wash.

I don't know why they told me the door can't be opened after a Bosch machine starts. You can and there are instructions in the manual about what to do to stop it and then restart. I think maybe it's dangerous to open it because the cycle doesn't stop when the door is opened. Hot splashes could fly out if the door is opened too wide. You're supposed to open it just enough to see the buttons on the top of the door and then you can stop it in the cycle.

Things have been so jumping here at DU this weekend. I hesitated to post the joyous news when scary things were happening down in Texas. But today is quieter so let me just say - Yee-Haw! I'm one happy ole gal!

I can actually that big ol' grin on your face! You're going to feel like a queen with that Bosch pulling weight formerly carried on your back. I never cease to be amazed at what a good job modern dishwashers do with cruddy old pots and pans. Sparkly's still in the habit of all that prerinsing and such. I guess I am too, but I'm more apt to put the machine through its paces and just see what it can **really** do. Must be the testosterone ..... ya think? :)

I've been doing a little bit of pre rinsing, too. But here's something that happened in tonight's wash that's notable. Remember those V-shaped roasting pan inserts we discussed here a while back? I have one. It's coated with something but still gets baked on crustiness. I made a turkey breast yesterday and used it. It got very crusty. I wiped off the grease and stuck it in the d/w last night. I only ran the regular type wash cycle today, not pot scrubber. The thing came out very clean. Only one spot had some crust on it. And that bit went soft in the wash. Took me a few seconds to get it off with the sponge.

The deal is that my kitchen has looked so much cleaner since Saturday. No dishes hanging around the sink to haunt me.

Btw, I rented one of those Oreck power circular scrubbers last week to do the kitchen, nook and mud room floors. What a difference! The old floor is looking good. And hubby added some wood next to the dishwasher since my old cabinet was 6 inches wider. He used some tongue in groove wood like our walls. Looking good all around. Now we have to go shop for some cabinets. We were going to go today but we both got insomnia last night. Got to sleep after 4 a.m. *You* know how that is.

seriously Eleny, that just rocks! My dishwasher fund ending up going to self employment taxes :( maybe later this fall....

we have finished the painting and added new light fixtures, now I just need new window coverings, a new sink and faucet and the DW (hopefully) before Xmas

7. I'm excited to see your new fixtures!

You're making really great headway. I moved my extra kitchen table out of the kitchen. Then all the stuff I stored on it is now over onto the main kitchen table. And some stuff is even in the living room. I cleared out the kitchen to use the power floor scrubber.

Now we have move the fridge and get some cabinets for that spot. I can hardly wait since the cabinets will be opposite the stove. It'll be nice having the storage and another counter. I'm going through everything with a fine tooth comb for possible donations, too. When I'm done I'll post some pics.

I had to laugh at your comment about how quiet your dishwasher is. I just got a new one a few months ago. We had the world's loudest dishwasher and the new one is almost silent. One evening my poor hubby opened it mid-cycle to put a glass in and got a face full of steam. It was so quiet he didn't realize the thing was running.

8. My glasses are getting steamed up, too!

I need to wear computer glasses and sometimes I don't bother to take them off. A few times I've peeked at the drying cycle and have gotten steamed up. The dishwasher is helping me keep my eyeglasses clean, too. An extra benefit.

That's the one I want, but I can't get it until this one dies. (die, sucker, die)

I've never understood why people pre-rinse. I think it goes back to the old days when dishwashers weren't very good. Even my crummy old GE cleans well. Every once in a while a dish doesn't come clean. Big deal. I put it in the sink to soak & then put it back in for the next load. I'm hardly going to pre-rinse on the off chance a dish or two doesn't come clean. I never run my dishwasher until I couldn't fit another teaspoon in it.

10. I'm learning to wait till I have more in it

These past few days are about learning the features and sort of playing. I can see running it about every 3 to 5 days for us two. The manual has pictures with loading options. So I'm going to like loading it up to the hilt. Since I also like to collect pots and pans, I have lots I can use before I run out!

This machine uses less water but the soap can be pricey. After the fascination with all this subsides, I'll be loading it to the hilt, too.

Btw, about your machine. I have a few extra hammers I can send you! :evilgrin:
