I need a rice recipe to go with tamales, por favor
I'll try to describe what I am looking for... at Mexican restaurants, when they serve rice as a side, there seem to two major types (with variations of course): the kind made with tomato sauce, and the white rice without tomato sauce. I would like to make some white rice with spices, but no tomato sauce. Does anyone have any Mexican-style rice recipes like what I am trying to describe?

Muchas gracias!

Fry some extra long grain rice with diced onion in a little oil in a pan. Add garlic powder(or fresh garlic or no garlic) and comino to taste. Add 2 cans of chicken broth. Salt to taste. Careful with the salt. You can use chicken bouillon and water instead of chicken broth. Put on a lid and simmer on low to low medium until the juice is gone. Do not lift the lid or stir it or it will get gummy.

4. For Mexican rice to go with tamales--
In all the cookbooks that I have, rice is always made with a tomato sauce. The rice I have been served in Mexican restaurants usually suck, because they leave out the flavor. I have made White Rice, but it needs LOTS of flavor. Before making the basic white rice, you can add a jalepino pepper, or other hot pepper, slivered, along with cominoand garlic powder. That should do it for flavor.

5. Cilantro Lime Rice
While it is true that the rice made with tomatoes is traditional, try cooking plain white rice and adding chopped cilantro, lime juice (usually one lime for 4-6 servings) and salt to taste.

6. My mom is Colombian
and she makes the best white rice. It's very simple, she simply adds butter and garlic and damn, is it good.
