Veggie steamer cleaning--How Ollie?
I have an old veggie steamer and the area where the water goes is just nasty.

Am I correct in thinking I can use a mixture of vinegar and water like I'd use in a coffee maker to steam it clean?

1. Yup, that would work just fine
Actually, what you really want is a lime de-scaler solution. You can use what you use to de-scale the 'spresso maker or you can use plain old CLR.

Funnily enough, I had to use some CLR on my Vienna today. The seal between the tank and the machine started leaking. I got a new seal and O-ring (all of $9.50, including shipping) and then had to get the lime scale out of the socket where the seal fits. Some straight CLR saturating the tip of a rolled up paper towel and presto, it was clean as a whistle. The remaining CLR was then used to get some lime scale off the aerator of my faucet. And ...... all was well with the world. :)

2. man, I just hate hearing those "I worked on my Saeco today" stories
I really musta got a gem from the factory

Since I don't have CLR or any de-calc here either, I guess it's vinegar and water huh?

3. Either you got a gem or you're just a better Saeco taker-carer-of than
Iyam.

Fortunately, this was a super easy fix. No internal parts. Just a stipud seal and the O-ring that is just plain stupid not to replace when you go to change the seal.

By the way, my 'spresso guy sez this is a normal wear part. Kinda like tires on yer car.
