Jail food sucks! I may not get to cook for a year or more |
|
Sigh, and I am homeless now, and may have to go back to jail for a year. I miss cooking so much. I spent 2 weeks in jail, and am at my brother's for awhile til I have to go back to KY for court. He BBQed ribs last night, so at least I get to watch people cook.
Jail food was about like hospital food, except ya didn't get choices. I was in shock for the 2 weeks I was in. The last 2 days I couldn't eat due to nerves. I am catching up on news and food!
Good to be out if only for a few weeks. Missed you all!

I'm so sorry. Big hug. Good thoughts that you won't get any more time. I don't even know what you did/didn't do, but I wish you the best.

maybe you can work in the kitchen. Not the same as cooking at home, but it worked for Martha Stewart.
Without knowing any of the details, I wish you luck.

5. Unfortunately in this county jail |
|
women are on almost on 24 hour lock down. Only the men can get work release or be trustees or work in the kitchen. I am on the road (tomorrow) for KY, and will try to internet from the libary. I doubt the jail has internet in their library.

7. Sounds like somebody there needs their sorry asses kicked with a |

SEX DISCRIMINATION lawsuit. Keeping the women locked down merely because they're women, and letting the men have all the goodies???
Can you get the ACLU involved?????

I might contact ACLU. Any jail should be more than warehousing bodies.

12. This is the real world |

and my guess is that jail does not need to have equal "trustee employment" opportunities. Safety first. There are more males in jail thus they have a larger pool of candidates for inmate workers. Males and females must be kept separate.

10. You can become an Inmate Worker. |
|
Many County Jails utilize Armark Services for managing the jail kitchen...sub contract and cost effective....
It is typically staffed by Trustee's. Just file a Kite and see if you can be an Inmate Worker. If you are going to be there a year.....they will love having a steady regular in the kitchen!

11. I see in another post that being a Cook is not an option. |
|
It looks like have friends and family put money on your book is one way to get a change in food options....Commissary. I hope you can find some way to make your stay tolerable.
