Toaster Oven?
Do any of you use these. I was wondering how they work for baking.

1. I have a really basic one, it is OK for baking a few slice and bake
cookies but I would not use it for other types of baking.

The real reason to have a toaster oven over a regular toaster is you can make cheese toast in it, and you can make pre buttered toast too.

Handy to quick broil anything without having to heat up the big oven.

3. I've done bread in mine...
and roasted things like squash and potatoes.

It works for pretty much anything that fits in it, but the temperature can be uneven.

4. When I lived alone I never used
my regular oven. I baked in my toaster oven. You can bake smaller things like cornish hens or chicken pieces. I used mine all the time for that. Just make sure you get a toaster-oven-BROILER. They don't all come with the broiler function. We don't have a regular toaster. We only have a toaster oven at home and use it all the time.

5. We use ours all the time
to reheat food that needs to be crisp and would turn a little soggy in the microwave, such as pizza or garlic bread. We also use it to toast items that are too big for the regular toaster or have toppings.

6. Years ago I had a place where the oven didn't work
It was Christmas time and my kids were little. I wanted to bake Christmas cookies so I did them in my toaster oven. I baked a bunch of different types over the course of three days - something like 12 dozen cookies in all, maybe more, and I could only cook 6 at a time!

It took forever but they came out great.
