I'm making Apple/Gouda sausage (from Costco) some Rice a Roni flavor (we'll see what's in the cupboard) fresh and lovely broccoli (steamed with butter on top) and I'm going to broil some of my home made honey wheat berry bread from this weekend with butter
pedestrian, but easy on a weeknight
what's on your menu?

3. Since it's "no spend" day... |

I shopped in the freezer for something I could put in the pressure cooker and found a 1/2 of a smoked pork butt. I pressure cooked it to thaw and make some soup. I also found a package of green peas from the Women's Bean Project. When the ham came out of the pressure cooker, it looked so tasty that we made sandwiches with it. The peas and veggies are in the pressure cooker now. I'll puree the pea soup later after it cools down and we'll have the soup tomorrow with the rest of the meat.
Maybe I should make some rolls to go with the soup. Suggestions are welcome. Or would a corn bread do the trick?
Your apple sausage is so good! I remember trying that once. Delish!

5. "Kicked up a notch" Grilled Cheese |

Our local Safeway has a really good in-store bakery. Yesterday we bought a loaf of onion and roasted garlic artisan bread. They also had remarkably ripe tomatoes that actually had a flavor that was nearly what a tomato ought to taste like. I also had an open package of thick sliced West Virginia bacon. Add to that some French made "Swiss" cheese and some butter for the outside of the bread .... and you got it ......

I make them often with a good instant potato soup I pick up by Bear Creek or my "easy Potato soup" the recipe I will post later if anyone wants it. It's bedtime now though, so I'm not going to go grab the recipe right now

...at least in my local ones, has really good tomatoes that come in a plastic pack. I've forgotten what they are called, but I think they are from Canada. They're expensive. But they're really good. They come a dozen to a pack or so, and are about golf ball size.

A pretty simple meal tonight. Just salad, and cappellini and meatballs in a chunk tomato sauce with lots of garlic.

tonight it's just a guy from work coming by to check out the telescope and do some "star hopping" with hubby. I'm gonna do that easy bisquick chicken fiesta thing from another thread that I like so much
while they're out star gazing, I'm making Waldorf salad and peach cobbler to go with the pork chops, Parmesan potatoes and asparagus for our accountant and her partner to eat between the football games tomorrow :)
I'll have some time to just "dink around" so maybe I'll take some pics of the Waldorf salad prep
