Weekend cooking

Since I spend so much time outside this time of year (gardening) Mr sazemisery does most of the cooking. But this was the weekend after our food coop delivery so I pulled myself away from Mother Earth and helped cook Saturday night's meal. It was a lamb loin roast that Mr sazemisery slathered in country dijon mustard and coated with chopped pine nuts, seared in the pan then cooked on the Big Green Egg. I cooked long grain rice and added sauteed shitake mushrooms, roasted asparagus and fresh goat cheese. I sauteed oyster mushrooms and tossed fresh spinach and pea greens in with them until just slightly wilted. Along with 9 grain fresh bread and butter.

Gawd! I love being a locavore. Hippywife can attest to the great food we get from the coop.

Did you get some of the buffalo ribs that were $1 off per pound this time? I really do love the co-op. Such wonderful, natural food and all of it local!

3. Unexpectedly busy

My mom died May 2nd and I have not had the time to post. I have been keeping up with your decadent cooking. The Fanny Farmer Banana Cake is on my agenda for next weekend. I'm glad you found beans you could enjoy. Anasazi beans are my favorite. They are a lot like pintos but a better flavor.

I haven't gotten any buffalo lately as we put a side of beef from our neighbor who raises angus in the freezer not long ago. My son's SO hooked us up with a Berkshire pig that is being processed as we speak. I will be curing pancetta and bacon and making sausage for days once it gets here. A crown roast of pork is in my future.
