In honor of Cindy McCain, post your chocolate chip cookie recipes
Here's mine. I stole it from: http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1160556
but lacked brown sugar (which I discovered after I started with my two little boys <2 and 4>...can't stop then!). I subbed in white sugar and molasses. I also mostly melt the butter, again that first time I was refereeing the boys and wasn't paying attention to the microwave. The result is a thin and chewy cookie that is quite yummy, with the molasses and dark chocolate contrasting nicely with the sweetness.

The recipe:

1 cup (1/2 lb.) butter, partly melted in microwave
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2.5 tbsp good quality molasses (go organic, no chemical aftertaste)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (12 oz.) - I do Ghirardelli half dark and half milk (or dark and semisweet if I did the shopping)

Mix like you would any cookie. Dry and wet teams separately, then combine (yes, I am an acolyte of AB). Bake in a 400° oven until cookies are lightly browned and no longer wet in the center (break one open to check), 6 to 8 min.

1. McCain cookies??
Well...

Lots of sugar, but white only (no brown allowed).
Egg(s) on face
Holy water
Plenty of vanilla
Permanent troop quantities
Skip the sugar (yes, this is contradictory)
Sprigs of Bush as needed - discard if necessary

Instructions: Mix ingredients however you want - the recipe changes daily.
Cook for anywhere from 3 years to 100 years.

adding molasses to the mix, but that's a wee bit o' sugar there, mister! I'd probably knock that back a little for mine.

And you just made me remember that I forgot brown sugar when I did the grocery shopping today. Ah, well. Still got 1/2 a 10 lb. bag of the white stuff I bought for preserves.

I will definitely try adding the molasses to the batter. Husband loves molasses and this northern gal is getting used to it. :hi:

6. raisins. blech.
I am the only household member who doesn't like raisins, which fortunately means I get to veto them in all desserts. My 2-year old calls them "raisies" :-)

The weird thing is when I was a kid I would devour raisins by the fistful.

10. I agree-- Start with the Toll House recipe...
on the back of the package and then go crazy.

I add nuts, too, and cranberries, cocnut, or just about anything else I have handy that sounds like it might be interesting.

And replacing half, or more, of the butter with almond paste or marzipan works.

4. The Toll House cookie recipe on the Hershey's bag, of course
I grew up on this--mom never wrote the recipe down, just got it off of the back of the bag every time.

5. Toll House Here
I use milk chocolate chips. When I was a young teacher I used to make Monster Cookies but I lost the recipe years ago. My students loved them. They had chocolate chips, oatmeal and M&M candies.
