What is your favorite candy to make?
I like making buckeyes. I don't really know how to make any other kind of candy.

1. I made over 200 bon-bons last Christmas season
Lots of different flavors, like chocolate/cayenne/orange, chocolate/mint, irish coffee, chocolate/wasabi/sesame, peanut butter fudge, and white chocolate/chai filling.

But after 200 of them, they're no longer my favorite candy to make... Tempering that much dipping chocolate is a huge, huge pain.

I think I'll stick to truffles this year. They're a hell of a lot easier.

2. those always look so good!

I had one the other day, but I have never made them....

I have made fudge, taffy and those molded chocolates, but not for years... I usually tend toward sweet bar cookies, rather than candy.

4. Divinity/Seafoam, Truffles, and Fudge
I've never had a buckeye before, looked for recipe and discovered it has peanuts, so I guess I'll never have the pleasure of enjoying buckeyes. They look good though.

I :loveya: making Divinity, especially since I bought my KitchenAid stand mixer. Also was informed about keeping the sugar from collecting on the sides of the pan by watering it down with a brush dipped in water produces a very creamy Divinity.

5. My daughter made buckeyes with almond butter last year
so I could enjoy them and they were to die for. She used the creamy roasted almond variety (don't know what brand). I'm thinking of making them this year.

10. I used to make divinity all the time. My ex really liked it. I learned to make it
from the Master, my great aunt Myrtle. She was the aunt who made candy at Christmas. My Norweigan step grandmother made cookies, the good pressed butter cookies. My mom made German chocolate Cake and Coconut cake and sometimes jam cake. Granny made The Brazil Nut cake.

Now I make Chocolate Pound cake, the family's favorite.

6. English-style butter almond toffee.
This year I am doing half with almonds and half with pecans in order of my new home which produces the best pecans in North America.

It took me three years to re-learn the technique with reliability in the high altitude. But I'm doing alright so far this year. Lovely and crunchy!

happily,
Bright

7. I had a bumper crop of strawberries one year
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 01:00 PM by Warpy
and I'm allergic to them. Everybody at work got sick of them.

So I got a little nipper bottle of bourbon at Walgreen's and made a bourbon laced chocolate dipping for them.

That got rid of the last of the damn strawberries.

9. Do you have a good recipe?
My great-aunt used to make the best caramels in the WORLD when she was alive, but she's been gone for decades. I'd love a suggestion or two.
