Does anyone know about the Advantium oven
I've been trying to decide on a new range - I like the idea of the Maytag double oven range but I don't like the way it looks. I much prefer a slide in stove, but they don't come with a double oven. I just discovered the Advantium, it seems to be a microwave that also is a convection or a regular oven. It fits in the space above the range and is the size of a regular microwave. It almost sounds too good to be true!

2. Those have been around for a while
(microwave/convections, I mean).

Biggest problem, imo, is that although they might be great as a microwave, their size makes them a bit limited as a convection. It seems to me that if you can't fit a pizza or a roaster in it, you'll probably be wanting more.

For many years I used a pretty large tabletop convection, and loved it (I couldn't afford to run the conventional stove all the time, due to electrical costs where I live).

After I finally got rid of it, I ended up buying a place that had a gas stove. Gas piped into my house gives me the willies, and I couldn't find a large convection any more, so I ended up buying a convection range - full sized oven.

I love it! It heats up in a flash - mere minutes, and it's great. I don't think it adds much to my electric bill; the one exception is if I preheat it for an hour for homemade pizza (because of the pizza stones).

The drawback of the microwave convections is really their size, I think; great for a microwave, limited as an oven. That's probably the major flaw. Just cooking for yourself, you might not mind, but for a family or even just more than one I'd think you might be finding you'll be wanting more.

3. We have a GE Spacemaker Oven over our stove.

It's a microwave/convection oven, it is wonderful. I have never heard of the Advantium. We put in the GE when we remodeled our kitchen. I wanted a seconded oven but we have a galley kitchen and there just was not enough room.

On edit: I just Googled Advantium, I see it is also GE. They are fairy new, I don't recall seeing one when we were looking at ovens. That was less then 2 years ago.

4. Thats why we liked it too. I want a second oven but can't do
wall ovens and don't like the Maytag Gemini double oven. I plan to get a convection range so the micro/convection oven will just serve as a secondary oven
