California sweet cherries... |
|
These are on sale here in Colorado now. And I have to say that they're the best I've had in years.
I look forward to cherry season every year. But it seems like these are the sweetest and firmest in some time. We're enjoying them for dessert every evening.
I have two bags in the fridge and will get a couple more before this current sale ends this Tuesday night.

1. I saw some USA cherries at our SAafeway today and passed them by. |
|
Now I am rethinking that. Cherries are Sparkly's favorite fruit.

2. The first ones we got a couple of weeks ago were so-so |
|
But the ones from this past week are very good. These are the ones that are bagged up already. I just grabbed two bags the other day and there's not a dud in the batch.

3. I was at 2 different grocery stores in the past 2 days and immediately |
|
zeroed in on the cherries. Unfortunately, they were $6.99 a lb. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks for them to come down in price.

4. $3.99 a pound is the best price around here, and I might... |
|
pick some up, but I'm still getting Driscoll's CA strawberries at 2 lbs for 5 bucks.

7. $2.98 at my market today |
|
But they didn't look very good. Kinda soft and scrawny.
I'll wait for Washington cherries, probably. Last year they were outstanding!

8. I paid about $6 for a quart of very nice cherries at the farmer's mkt |
|
on Sunday. Rather pricey, considering they are local. Sigh. Not even organic, either.
They are probably my favorite fruit.
