Need sugar free recipes
It's ix-nay on the sugar for me for awhile. Possibly some good South Beach or Atkins ones? I don't necessarily want to follow either diet in particular but I would assume their recipes are low on simple sugars.

1. Are you eating chemical sugar substitutes?
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 10:56 PM by The empressof all
If you are check out the Splenda.com website. They also have a new product which is half sugar/half splenda. Splenda is expensive so I don't see why anyone would want to buy this if they can mix sugar/Splenda themselves. But I guess there are just folks who will buy anything.

I personally like Splenda and find it easier and just more convenient to use than Stevia--especially for baking.

If you are using it for baking-remember you will still have alot of "bad-carb" unless you are using whole grain flour.

I have also had some success in substituting Apple Juice concentrate for sugar in things like Banana Bread, Apple Bread. There is also a product you can buy that is concentrated fruit sugars.

2. Sweet 'n Low has a huge line of sugar free baking mixes;
They might not always taste really great on their own, but work well used in recipes. Also, I think they have a recipe website.

3. You can just use a sugar
substitute in your pumpkin pie and it will taste great. I bake one every year that is sugar free. Also, stay away from any simple carbohydrates. They increase your blood sugars.

4. I can't use a lot of artificial sweeteners

because of side effects. It's not my blood sugar I have to worry about so much; it's triglycerides.

edit: oops, this was supposed to be in response to #1, but it could have applied to the other two as well.

5. Have you ever looked at Stevia?
Stevia is a plant native to Peru, I think. Anyway, it has an extract which is sweet but non-caloric, and the best part is, it's 100% natural.

Here is a good site to look at:
