So today was a "snow day" - we got about a foot on Sunday - hey, Eleny, are you dug out? - and since I only had a meeting I could attend by speaker-phone, and Mr. Pcat could work from home, we didn't bother with the 2 hour commute it would have been today.
I cleaned the kitchen, and will post pics as soon as Mr. Pcat gets the recycling taken to the center so I can take pictures, worked on the book, and made Madeleines, but the Madeleine pan is boxed up, outside in the shed, and the shed has about 2 feet of snow in front of the door. Drifts, ya know?
So I put half the batter in mini-muffin cups and half in a springform pan - after all, it's just a genoise batter, right? - and baked. I intended to put them away and take them, one or two at a time, for lunch. The cake... I don't know. I'd figure out something. (By the way, I now realize I DO have a use for a Stand mixer.....)
Now, Mr. Pcat has never had an interest in my love-affair with Madeleines. He considers them cookies, and thus, evil and bad. But when I put the exact same thing in mini-muffin cups, they become cake. And cake is lovely and good.
I have had 2 - count them with me, 2 - of my faux madeleines, and none of the cake. There are 6 madeleines left (of 24) and 3/4 of the cake. Hmmmm....
And I'm supposed to have the sweet tooth?
