My shortcut links, to the internet, on my desktop and bar stop working sometimes. Also links within a webpage stop for no known reason. I have to go to "Task Manager">"Processes">stop 'firefox.exe' to start over even though the browser is not visible. Very frustrating.
Any workarounds? Can I uninstall and reinstall 1.0 without losing my bookmarks?
FireFox 1.0 Win2000 pro
Thanks

1. It's likely that when you uninstall, it will give you the option.. |

of keeping your settings, which include the bookmarks. The bookmarks are stored in your Documents/Settings folder, not in the FireFox program file. But to be on the safe side, go to the Bookmark menu and open the Manage Bookmarks function. On the File menu of that window, you will see an option to 'export'. Click on it, and save the file someplace other than the Firefox folder. After you uninstall and re-install Firefox, you can then Import the bookmarks using the same steps.
Did you install 1.0 'over' 0.9? For some reason, I think they suggested installing 1.0 in a different folder altogether, even after you removed 0.9. I could be wrong about though.
I would download a new copy of the installer, if that isn't a big deal, just to be on the safe side.

2. I'm also experiencing some related problems |

I just clicked on my Links and used the top arrow to scroll up. It scrolled up but couldn't scroll all the way up. It stopped short of the top 5 or so Links.
Also, the very last Link in the list isn't in full view. Only the top half is in sight. But it still can be clicked.
And earlier I had a problem with getting to a Bookmark. I have sub folders within the main folders. When I clicked on a main folder, the fly window with sub folders opened. But as I slid my cursor over to the right, the fly window disappeared. I closed Bookmarks several times to try and try again. Eventually, it worked.
I started using Firefox yesterday and only experienced these problems today - except for the last item in Links being cut in half.
Do you know of there's a fix for these glitches?
Edit: I've noticed something about the Links problem. The links it doesn't see are the ones I renamed in the past to have a number or an asterik as the beginning of the name. This was to force them to the top of my Links list. Yesterday, Firefox recognized them. Today, those are the ones at the top that it doesn't seem to be able to access.

3. Oops - found the Links issue is not a problem |
|
I thought Links couldn't access the Links at the top of the list. But I just noticed (and is my face red!) that the missing Links are in their own toolbar under the main toolbar at the top of the page. I'm not sure how they got there and will try to get them into the Links list.
