Update to "three questions" post. I'm lovin' iGoogle and gmail! |
|
Wow. Just wow! I've been using webmail since everything has been messed up of late and no time to do anything with it. In my slow journey toward open source stuff, I enrolled in gmail and set up an iGoogle homepage with really cool though basic gadgets (dictionary, calendar, weather).
Yes, people, that's how behind the curve I've been. ;-)
I forwarded my other emails to the new gmail account and get real-time notices of incoming messages! (THAT is what I've missed most about my other email program being on the blink and using webmail...the constant logging in, refreshing, etc. Oy.) And, I was able to set it as my default email program so I no longer have to copy and paste addresses into webmail.
Avast is working like a champ. Now I need to figure out how to get background monitoring from Ad-Aware on this computer. It looks like the same version as on my laptop (which I did fix setting to have it constantly running in the background), but I don't have that option on this version evidently. I may have to uninstall (which always scares me...lol) and reinstall newest version?

1. I haven't been able to get anyone to switch to Gmail... |
|
They still use hotmail and AOL, both of which paste ads at the end of their outgoing messages. It really pisses me off that I somehow have to "sell" them something that's good for them...
I love gmail. When I give out an email to someone IMPORTANT, I use my gmail address - I'll KNOW I'll be able to get it...
AND, if I take a vacation or get sick for 30 days, it won't be DELETED like my hotmail account was...
