I'm having "Cookie" problems with Firefox and DU and just about every other website too. Actually FireFox is really acting up in a lot of ways, but let's fix these one at a time.

First, I'm using WindowsXP Pro SP3 RC2 and Firefox v2.0.0.12 and the first problem is, it never remembers my sign-on info when I come here lately (to be fair, this doesn't just happen at DU).

Actually, to be more precise, it doesn't "keep me logged in" when I come back, so I have to go to the Log-in every time, but the log data is still there, but it might be saved on my local computer.

Next, every so often, DU just decides to "mark as read" all of the posts and threads here (all the little folders and message icons turn from yellow to white) without me doing it myself.

O.K. let's start with those, any ideas?:shrug:

1. Session cookies
Sounds like you have firefox set to accept session cookies only and/or to expire all cookies after a brief period.

Check tools->options->privacy ?

2. O.K., in that menu I have Accept Cookies from Sites checked...
...and the drop down is set to Keep Until They Expire

Is that set wrong?

What I'm thinking it is, is that where they are stored might be corrupt, would changing that to a different setting, then changing it back clear out the old directory?

3. I'm a little late reading your post
but did you look at Tools>Options>Privacy>

Then near the bottom, there is the section for Private Data

Could you have checked the box to always clear private data when you close Firefox? If so, it probably should be unchecked. You can look at the settings box to see what data would be cleared out.
