Have you heard of text entering backwards?

I have an end user who told me something is wrong with his keyboard, because the text sometimes enters backwards. Upon questioning it turns out that it happens with gmail and a certain application (VoteBuilder) and not all the time. Why does this happen?

If it's only happening in one web browser, and the malware is not too bad, it may be possible to reset all the browser settings and get rid of the problem. In IE it's Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Reset. (edit: I guess you already know that since you're using the term 'end user') This should clear out any IE addons.

Most problems are more serious than that but sometimes it works.

Also try making sure virus protection is up to date and do a scan.

Just a guess. Even though it's intermittent, some malware I've seen does stuff intermittently.
