Problem with new Firefox download
I had replaced Windows Media with VLC media player, which has been pretty good and less of a pain in the ass than WM (which is still there, of course), but now I can't seem to get Firefox to use VLC as the default. When I browse, it's not even a choice. How do I get VLC back to being my mp3 choice?

1. I'm still using v2, but have you tried this
Go into Tools, Options, Content, File Types/Manage and find the extension (mp3) and see if you can click the "use this application" button (or whatever it's called in v3) and browse to where the VLC exe file is?

2. I can browse and I can see VLC on my applications list...
and the little striped cone is next to the mp3 but I can't get it to add it to the list of options in Firefox.

3. I don't know if this will work for you,

but see if this works.

Go to tools>options>applications. You should see a bar called 'content type' and 'action'. Find mp3 under content type and click on it. This brings up the action options. If you don't see VLC on there, click 'use other' which should bring up the available media players on your computer. Good luck.

4. Thanks.
Even though this was probably the same as the advice in #1, it worked this time. YAY!

5. Pretty close.
Except instead of tools>options>content, I recommended tools>options>applications. I couldn't get to the file types through the content icon. Glad it worked.
