Problems logging into Hotmail |
|
I go to my Hotmail account and put in my password. I get an error message saying the email address or password is incorrect. But they are correct. I go to the forgot my password link and I see: You may be able to receive password reset instructions at your Windows Live Hotmail account even if you forgot your password. How can I get this information if I can't even get into my mailbox in the first place?
Today is the first time I've had this problem.
I thought for sure I had an alternate email address for which to send my login information but Hotmail won't give me the option to send it. What can I do?

there is an option to reset your forgotten password by answering your "secret question". you will have to answer a question like "What is your mother's maiden name?" or "What was the name of your High School?" I think it will let you in after that, and then you can go into your account setting and change your password.

2. Thanks but I tried that option too, and it was the same thing. |

Do you really think that MS is wrong about your email/password?
"I get an error message saying the email address or password is incorrect. But they are correct."
So you are certain your username and password you entered are correct, yet Hotmail is saying they aren't? That would be an incredibly major bug in Microsoft's email system. I would say that is MS can't keep track of a simple username/password then the online community would be helpless and mass hysteria will ultimately ensue.
Otherwise, I suggest just follow the instructions they give you for recovering or resetting a password on the "Forgot your password" link.
