Problems accessing a site. Help...
For the last 24 hours I have been unable to access the network54 site. I have tried it through Firefox and IE. I have e-mailed several people from the site and they are all having no problems. It is the only site I am unable to access. What's up with this? I haven't done anything to get banned!

2. It's just a dead link.
Says the site cannot be accessed and to check the address again.

5. No name lookup.
There is some problem with your ISPs name service (DNS)
or your machine or something. What we just did proves the
routing works OK (which is great, fixing routing issues will
drive you nuts.) You can try flushing your browsers cache,
maybe they moved or something, hard to say from here. At least
you have a work-around to get to the site.

6. Thank you very much. That was very helpful.
Don't have a clue why that happened but I bookmarked my two sites through the new way.

7. If that ceases to work, try the www.network54.com version,
or just http://network54.com, maybe they will have it fixed by
then.

8. I tried clicking on your link and it didn't work.
I tried googling things on net54 and clicking on those links and couldn't do that either. I guess as Sheriff Andy says - it just has a hitch in its get-along.

How did you get your name? I have always noticed it because I have two aunts and a grandmother named Mildred.

9. There is an old comic strip named Pogo (by a guy named Walt Kelly),
Edited on Sat Apr-23-05 12:48 PM by bemildred
In it there are three bats, who are unshaven, card players,
drinkers, and bums. One of them is named bewildered or alternatively
mis-named bemildred. I like the strip and I fit the description,
sometimes. It has nothing to do with "Mildred", although nobody can
be blamed for making the mistake.

Kelly died some time ago. Boy I wish he was still around today.
He would have a field day with the current crop of bozos.

The links don't work now because the name service is still hosed.
The internet is a "best effort" service and does not guaranteed to
work right all the time. But if you know how it works you can often
fake it out when something breaks.

Later.

2000 or NT you can try these commands.

"ipconfig -flushdns"<ENTER>
"ipconfig -registerdns"<ENTER>

Those commands will flush and refresh your DNS cache. If you are using a derivative of 95, the commands will be similar. As far as other OS's go, someone here may know the appropriate command. Give the "registerdns" command a little time to work before declaring it a failure. If that does not work, you can Try changing your primary and secondary DNS servers to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2. This can be done through the OS or your router, if you have one.

ON EDIT: Kudos to bm for a sound and speedy diagnosis.
