Are there new MicroSoft (I know-- bad people!) updates for XP? |

The little yellow shield has shown up on my start bar, but I don't see a mention of updates available at Major Geeks.
Anyone getting this? I hate to download without knowing first.

1. I got a new security update last night |
|
Go to Help and Support on the Start Menu, then click on Windows Update. I have mine set to download updates automatically. BTW, there is a new feature at MS that makes you "verify" you have a legit copy of XP before it will let you have access to windows update.

2. I don't want automatic download because I'd heard of plms with that |
|
So I set it to notify me and then I download manually. But usually, there is something up on Major Geeks about a new download that is real. But I didn't see anything this time.
Thanks!

3. That sheild is ok. However, you can go to |
|
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate and get them from there. Or in IE just click on Tools - Windows Update.

which is why I rely on the shield icon. Microsoft is nearly impossible to navigate without IE.
I didn't know about the 2nd Tuesday thing. That will help!

Microsoft updates are released on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Unless of course they have an emergency patch to get out there.
