Need help with an external floppy drive |
|
I bought a floppy drive for my laptop off EBay and it seems to only support Windows 98, 2000, Millennium and NT, not XP as I have. Can that be?
Are these versions of Windows so purposely different as to render hardware obsolete?
Or, preferably, am I such a computer dunce that I can't figure out who to install the drivers?
I really hate that I can be a scientist with a doctorate but a floppy drive or a copy machine can make me feel like an idiot.
*sigh*
Any suggestions?

1. How does it connect to the laptop?.. |
|
If it connects by USB or by a card, plug it in while the laptop is off, then boot the machine. XP should notice the device, then will ask you if it can search the internet for the most up to date driver.
I'm wondering if you need a specific service turned on.Have you connected other things w/o problem?

2. Did you have a driver's cd or floppy disk that |
|
came with your external floppy? If they have a site, you can probably go to it and get the driver update for win xp...
