My printer says "Remove and check cartridge."
I take the cartridge out, look at it, don't see anything wrong, put it back and it says the same thing. When I try to print it says that the problem is with the tri-color cartridge. I inserted a new tri-color cartridge and the same results.

The thing is, I'm on a fixed income. I can't pay for a tech support guy, or HP to ship it somewhere.

I don't remember doing anything different when it started last night.

It's a HP OfficeJet 6110 all-in-one.

1. Have you tried
realigning the heads? I've had that problem with HP printers before. you may have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

2. How do I realign the heads?
It couldn't be the drivers because the copier function doesn't work either.

3. sometimes they get "freaky"
You said HP, so keep in mind HP can be weird sometimes. First to realign heads, right click your printer open up file and or tools, and you will find the option to clean and align them in their. If that does not work, do a complete un install and then reinstall the whole thing, but first go up to the hp site and get the latest and greatest driver. Be sure to truly get all of it when you uninstal, sometimes you have to get a program from HP to get it all out (available on their web site). You can also go up to HP support and look for someone else who has had the same sort of problem and see what they did to get it going again.

4. Replace the Black cartridge.
Some of the messages have nothing to do with reality.

Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 01:51 PM by Kire
i did one of those online chat things with an HP technician (for free)

all I needed to do was change the cartridge.

gosh that was awful

over a month with no printer

and such a simple solution

what a relief

Edit: Now I've got a problem with iTunes. It started copying my music library so now I have no room left on my hard drive, but I can't find where it copied it to. The iTunes folder is almost empty from the last time this happened.
