I want a laptop primarily for wordprocessor and internet.....suggestions?

I have a desktop compaq and a Lexmark Z32 printer that I got for about $900 ca 4 years ago. It's OK; I'd just like to be able to laptop in a different room or at someplace like Panera.

Am I just planning to waste money??? One person told me that I could probably get an OK laptop for ca $500 at Circuit City, etc, if I only wanted a wordprocessor and internet access.

Suggestions?? Comments??

1. How about going to one of the computer makers websites and getting

a refurbished system. Dell, Compaq and those companies have a section on their websites usually called Outlets where they sell refurbished systems. CompUSA also sells refurbished laptops.

2. Anything you buy will do WP and surfing.

The only issues would be the display (Is it big enough,
do you like the colors, and are the pictures crisp, etc.)
and WiFi for Panera I suppose, they mostly the come with
WiFi built in these days, and the keyboard/mouse (do your
hands fit, are you comfortable, etc.).
