PDA and sync s/w without admin requirement

Here was my problem.
The first PDA I had, my true love gave to me was a Pocket PC...but what I really wanted it to do was synch to my work calendar. However, ActiveSync requires system administrator access to the calendar. The employer would not allow me to have admin access to my work computer, so I was basically screwed. Fat finger my schedule again...sigh.

I reluctantly returned the PDA to my true love, and went back to using my 2lb day planner.

After dealing with the weighty issue of using the plannner...I still want a PDA...but still have the problem of finding synchronization s/w that does not require admin access. Can anyone suggest a h/w - s/w combination I could look for?
