Cannot open .asf files on my laptop
earlier in the day (at work) I opened this video and watched it http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/Components/Blogs/Katrina/video/050911_katrina_cat_02.asf

Now, I am home and on my laptop (with XP) and when I click that link it does nothing. I re-associated .asf files with Windows Media player, since the default was Winamp. Still nothing.

I desperately want to show my dh this video. Any suggestions on why it wouldn't work?

PS I turned off my popup killer and some other crap I usually have on (webshots and windows messenger)... still won't work. I cleaned my internet cache and cookies and even went to documents and settings and erased all my temporary internet files... no change.

:argh:

1. Download Media Player Classic
Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 08:46 PM by LiberalUprising
it is an extremely light-weight media player for Windows. It looks just like the good-old Media Player v6.4, but has lots of nice extra features.

MPC has, for instance, a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QT and/or Real player), and lots more.

Definitely a great replacement for the huge and clumsy Microsoft Media Players.

I've been using MPC for 3 years now and never had any problems playing any media file, plays 'em all

On edit:

Have ya tried downloading (save target as) the file to your computer first?
